Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Ba Thien Tran, an individual running Old Friend (“we”, “us”). By texting us to join, you accept them. They are short on purpose. Please read them.
What the service is
Old Friend sends you one question a day by text message. You reply with an answer. We keep your answers and sometimes show an old one back to you. If you connect with a friend, you can each choose to share an answer with the other.
Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old, the account holder or authorized user of the phone number you text from, and located in the United States. You are responsible for any message or data charges from your carrier.
Your consent to text messages
By texting our toll-free number and replying YES, you agree to receive recurring text messages from Old Friend at that number: one question a day, an optional reminder, replies to your texts, and notifications about friends’ shares. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel at any time and UNSTOP to resume. Reply HELP for help. Your answers
You own what you write. You give us permission to store it, show it back to you, and deliver it to friends you choose to share it with. Don’t text us anything illegal, anything that harasses or threatens someone, or private information about other people that you don’t have the right to share. We may remove content or close accounts that break this rule.
Sharing with friends
Sharing is your choice, one answer at a time, and only with people who have accepted a connection with you. Once a shared answer is delivered to someone’s phone we cannot take it back, and we are not responsible for what they do with it.
This is not advice
The questions are prompts for reflection. Old Friend is not a medical, mental-health or counseling service and does not monitor answers. If you are in crisis in the United States, call or text 988.
Availability
We try to send every message on time, but delivery depends on carriers and networks we don’t control. The service may be interrupted, changed or discontinued. It is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.
Ending things
Reply STOP to stop messages, or DELETE to remove your account and everything in it. We may suspend or close accounts that abuse the service or other people on it.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from the service, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the past twelve months, which today is nothing.
Changes and governing law
If these terms change in a way that matters, we will text you a short notice with a link before the change takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States.
